Why wouldn't you date a Indian woman again
A little bit too family oriented to the point of feeling oppressive. If i make a family decision i should only have to discuss with my wife and child. My immediate family. I don't need all of your distant relatives chiming in too. She even gave elder in-laws authority in our relationship. I'm like this nikka aint even your kin.
She's like :dahell:He's my sisters husband and he's older than you, therefore his opinion on our personal life is valid.
:camby: had her mom and dad living with us for three months at time when they visited from india.

The Simpsons has been on TV since 1989, but not until almost 30 years later do people decide to suddenly get offended

im sure indians have felt some type of way about Apu before 2018, Indian brehs at least in my neck of the woods was almost always getting the short end of the stick, gettin jumped, robbed, a lot of racist name calling against them etc.

(not that they themselves dont have racist views) but I doubt they look at Apu as some sort of great representation for them:yeshrug:

I'm more intrigued by the whole

"@♤|☆♡~%#×₩ is Indian"

drama that has been going strong for a long time now.

And the Breh @€&+%□●♧¿ always get super mad and types in caps how he's *NOT* Indian

Like.

How does this begin? Why can't a simple photo squash it? Why are his detractors so persistent?

So many questions

i kind of don’t give a fukk
On the other hand, even the Black dude in the show is just a regular dude

On the other other hand, if the worst stereotype about your people is a foreign accent and convenience stores, I think you whining too much

Social media makes ppl feel like they can dictate things by committee but the Simpsons handled it all wrong

I would've never gave a fukk about this 10 years ago but now, I'm not comfortable telling other races how they should feel about their racial stereotypes. Obviously all of them were created to generalize and marginalize each ethnic group. But how would I feel making 6 or 7 figures and muthafukkas thinking the only way I could get this is rapping, dancing or playing ball?

You don't know how the stereotype can affect him in other fields.

And I love the Simpsons but I gotta say they have been the biggest propaganda for stereotypes against Indians. I don't know how many times I've heard a pissed off person call an Indian "Apu" or some shyt in the past 20 years. The only other people I hear shytting on Indians are other Indians, Russell Peters, Mindy etc.,

But if you into Anime and take offense at how black people are protrayed it's hypocritical to tell Indian folks to "GET OVER IT!

on one end, if Indian people feel some type of way about it, i can understand, because i'm not gonna sit up here and act like i wouldn't feel some type of way about a white person playing a stereotypical black person.

one the other end, the simpson's was built on american stereotypes like homer simpson being the stereotypical broke lazy fat white man or cletus being a stereotypical redneck, etc.

at the end of the day, it's not my fight :hubie:

I don’t agree with every black debate

I was arguing with a nikka against Monique on Netflix the other day

Apu or no Apu Indians would still get made fun of, that's just the reality of the situation.

Show wise Apu was a man who had his own business and supported his family, he was a part of the Springfield community. There was nothing offensive about his character.

I'm Indian and i don't care. The comedian who brought this up said he used to get abused over it at school and that never happened to me - nobody at school or anywhere ever said shyt to me about Apu.

As far as the character goes I like him, he's not an empty stereotype, he has plenty of depth and he's generally depicted as an intelligent guy who is way overqualified to be a simple store clerk.

:dead:

As far as pop culture portrayals of brown people goes, the only one iveI seen that I'm legit uncomfortable with was the Pakistani dude on Seinfeld
