I wouldn't care whether she prays over her food or not. I don't usually pray before I eat. Just one sentence. "God, thank you for the food." I believe that's enough.

EDIT: If I'm with others and they wanna pray over the food, that's cool with me. I can join in. Its just not a habit for me. I didn't grow up in a particularly religious household.

thats why i've never been to one. I get it...but...its just not that serious to me.

I can definitely relate to that but on the other hand I see where those who want to organise are coming from. Its a lot easier to become isolated or ostracised 'coming out' as a black atheist and such movements could prove to be vital in helping young black people navigate or find support in a community that doesn't really embrace atheism.

If I think back to myself at 16 and I can imagine that things would have been a lot easier if I had some kind of outlet and wasn't entirely surrounded by people that saw me as a pariah/traitor.

i think everyone pretty much knows not to ask me to pray over the food. :heh:
