:mjlol: @ the outrage when someone holds the mirror up to our race. The truth stings doesn't it. Hiphop is Black Americas biggest representer. Y'all keep supporting and calling it "just entertainment" and get mad when you are stereotyped because of it

I agree with you that we need to check our own and help move our folks towards a more intellectual path.
That doesn't negate the need to step to this cottage cheese clown about getting out of pocket:birdman:... Both need to take place

Are we really going to give him a pass for all of the racist comments that he's made and the fact that he employed a bedwench-mammy hybrid for his show? :usure:

Before moving to Sirius, I listened to his show damn near every morning for over a decade (the Billy West, Jackie, Fred, Gary, & Gilbert Gottfried lineup was EASILY the GOAT morning show lineup... my God @ the laughs they spread :banderas:), and every day I heard Stern and company go in on anyone and everyone who put themselves out there to get it with equivocal fervor. Sorry, but I don't subscribe to the "how dare you make fun of black people's peccadilloes even though you're doing the same to each group equally" mindset. Hearing an uncensored, raw, warped-yet-realistic take on life was very, very refreshing during the 90s, an era where political correctness became mainstream and in vogue almost overnight, and his show barked directly up my tree.

As for Robin, what makes her a bed-wench? Because she did a tremendous job as the voice of sanity in one of the most off-the-wall shows in history? It wasn't her job to stir the pot, so that role needed someone who was more level headed and could take things in stride, even jokes about her color or gender, because like I said earlier, it was dished equally to every group on the planet. She wasn't a sidekick on the "lets bash black people and make nikker jokes for 5 hours" show because that wasn't what the show was about. Yes, I know it was a black woman in that role, but :manny:, she had a job to do and did a great job with it, and I can't think of any time Robin came out her face and condemned black people exclusively and rejected her color. If you have an example, I'll be happy to be corrected. And yeah, she laughed at racist jokes, ok... we do it every day here too :pachaha:. And a black woman who speaks like her is verrrryyyy :ahh:

All in all though, I don't mind fukked up jokes as long as they're funny and that it's being dished equally. My skin is FAR from thin.

Good chance I'm older than you.

Her being "this" is not surprising, it's just kind of uncomfortable every time I hear her tho.

She could have taken the opportunity to explain to Howard *why* Black people talk the way we do and why things are the way they are. She definitely wouldn't be as rich as she is now, but... *shrug*.

I'm loving this thread :pachaha: I love threads that expose how ignorant and stupid hiphop makes us look as a people:blessed: Call me a c00n all y'all want but it's really these rappers that are selling out our race and making it harder for us "normal" blacks to live our lives without being stereotyped because of what's being showed in the mainstream. We are the only race that calls each other "c00n" "sellout" "Uncle Tom",etc for striving to get OUT of the hood, for speaking "proper", for wearing our pants ABOVE our waist a.k.a dressing like a white boy :snoop:. Like I said in my earlier post, y'all keep saying its "just entertainment":sas2:

By "we" you mean the white people that own BET right?

The white man didnt make Plies speak like he does on record/videos, then speak intelligently off-camera.

Granted it's somewhat a character he and others are playing, but "we" don't have that luxury b/c we're judged differently than other races. And not just by whites, we're judged by our own ppl as well
