How's New Orleans in October?

I know it's hella early, but my birthday in October, thinking I go somewhere instead of doing the sane ole boring. It'll be 3 nights, Thursday - Saturday.

Is that a good time to go? What is there to do? I read there's an Oktober Fest, definitely hitting that up.
