No clue why you were keeping GPS on 24/7 to begin with. I thought it was basic knowledge to only turn GPS on when you needed it. It is actually pretty good that you were getting 8 hours or so with GPS on full time and heavy use...

The HTC One battery is great, imo.

On my iPhone 4 and 4s having it on 24/7 didn't really impact my battery life that much. Seems like Google Now and Google Maps on Android constantly pulls the GPS location and is constantly refreshing.

I'm guessing that's what causes the difference.

This is true. Android generally will use more battery than iOS due to larger screen, NFC, multi-tasking, Google Now, etc. I honestly don't even get why people compare Android battery life to iOS battery life due to the fact that iOS is greatly limited compared to Android.

Turn off location reporting in the Maps settings. Lot of people either don't know or forget to do that when they get a new phone.

I'm gettin 18 to 20 hrs on moderate to heavy use..

You just gotta turn of the GPS location.. I only turn that on when I'm driving using Google Maps..

The battery life on this phone is good.
