I didn't see this thread earlier would have contributed. A friend went to help their parents earlier this week. It is a disaster. Out of respect, I will not share photos and sensitive text but will provide an excerpt so people can get a real world non-media/internet vetted perspective. If you can, donate to individuals you know and organizations loved ones recommend.

Thanks again everyone so much for your support. We are well. But it's a disaster here. People are running out of food, or don't have access to cash or gas to get to it. Most people are telling their outside family "everything is fine" because they don't want to worry them. People can only get $20 gas ($10 limit in San Juan) after waiting 6 hours (200 cars in line). The gas stations close (due to curfew) at 7pm, but people sleep in their cars so as to not lose their space in line. They can only withdraw $100 per day from bank account. The news is not telling the whole story. But me and family are now safe at a house in San Juan.

We are still confirmed on the AA flight on Saturday (I just called), which is an added flight. All regular flights were cancelled.

We don't have power or running water now, but we have cellular service thank goodness. And the government employees where we are staying have guns. News is that martial law will probably be declared soon
