I finally just checked this out. I liked it much more than I expected to Constance Wu and J’Lo’s relationship and performances were the centerpieces, and what largely carried this. The movie was fun, but felt like it never really kicked into overdrive. I kept waiting for something dramatic or shocking to up the stakes, but everything was rather tame for the most part. Better than expected but not quite as Oscar worthy as I’ve heard either

the JLo Oscar talk is funny...fukk out of here. performance was fine but mad annoying for chunks of the movie.
her best acting happened at the end when she still had that photo of the younger Constance Wu and was talking to Julia Styles about them.

Best not to take the Oscars that seriously, but a supporting actress nod or even best actresses for Lopez would not be unreasonable at all, based on the Academy's selections.
