I am amazed how Cole manages to get by, by being so mediocre. Its incredible.

If cole is the epitome of basic, then wtf is lil Wayne, 2-chainz, Ross, gucci and the rest of them. nikkas love to hate cole, but it ain't many mainstream rappers rapping better than him
Cole`s concerts be on point. Plus he knows how to have a dedicated fanbase that supports him overseas

Basic obviously means his bars. Cole's strength is in his storytelling and the concepts and emotions he conveys. As a straight up lyricist he's not the strongest. He thinks he's better than he is, but then again, most of these new guys are overrated lyrically. Wayne at his best was clearly a superior emcee to J.Cole, he just lacked any sort of content 90% of the time. You could say the same for Ross. People confuse feeling an emcee with their actual emcee skills. I'm a Cole fan, and even I know that he has limited lyrical ability. He has a witty line here and there, but his storytelling is what makes him J.Cole. He has some standout verses as well.

When was Cole ever under Sean?

His album sold damn near 3x times as much their opening weeks

Lol Cole sold over 700k and people think he Tyga status. Face it: he surpassed everyone s expectation and remain humble with it.

The Warm Up will forever be one of my favorite mixtapes... the hunger on that shyt, is inexplicable

I get why cats say he's mediocre though, I can tell he's struggling to find ill rhymes the more songs he puts out. I just hope he finds some new inspiration, shyt gets ugly when you give the game your all then find out once you get signed to a label that it's not at all what you expected...

Congrats on his album hitting 700k though, that's still a great look
