And I love it. I need a part-time gig asap. shyt isn't easy and thank God for the internet. I, personally, see why so few have all the money. They deserve it.:yeshrug: A plethora of people are not good at all. Sad since the demand for quality music and performance is at an all-time high. Not physical copies but people stream the same songs over and over. Go pay to see the same people perform because most people aren't good.

Listening to FreddieLong305 from your sig. Its Good!

Join an industry in decline as an unpaid slave, breh.

:lolbron: Just kidding, man. Good luck, and it's good to do something you love
I have a degree in economics and project management skills if all else fails which I doubt but appreciate you showing love.

It isn't failing now that I am in it. However, it has contracted. We still need new music for always. It's figuring out how to pay the people on the backend like myself because album sales supported that. Artists still need teams because no one can do it by themselves. No one! Music is being consumed more than ever. People do not start paying its going to be commercials in the middle of a record playing.

@Dlee954 what do you think about compensation and what is occurring with streaming services?

The streaming services are paying major labels pretty pennies for their catalogs to license. On top of that residuals per stream. Now you're going to have marketers pushing consumers heavy and Cross-promoting projects to stream one another and raise popularity to eat off artists' show money. Let's say Snoops Bush, universal can say stream joe blows after listening to bush. Because of that simple suggestion, they gained millions of people's attention and they'll search instantly on whatever service they have. Quick and painless for the consumer. Next push to have the songs added to their playlists. We're talking over a billion people streaming over 100 times per day.

Props to OP.

I moved to LA a bit over a year ago to try and get a gig in the industry and, over 750+ applications later, managed to get a part-time gig at a boutique Music Publishing company in Hollywood.

This town is NO JOKE. I thought with my corporate sales experience in NYC and Bachelor's Degree that I'd find a gig in no time. HA!

My roommate has a degree from Stanford and used to work for some powerful folks - he has been unemployed (save for a Hosting job at a restaurant near LA LIVE) since October.

It's real out there.

I just started so I do not know a thing. I am sure it goes down. I saw a thick, bad ass white chick waiting to audition at a place that houses studios off Olympic and she had a vibe like she won't be denied. :mjpls:

I was blessed it took less than a week. To work for free is an uphill battle. I went to dead ends and PO Boxes. Plus dude is connected. I did my googles after the fact. Dude got plaques from Jamie Foxx, Ying Yang Twins and some other top cats.

God blessed you, man. It's a foot in the door.

To make rent, I've done everything from parking security attendant at Griffith Observatory to literally doing a 9th Graders online English homework for $25 an hour (I got to read all the books I didn't read from back in the day like 'The Odyssey.') Shoot, I'm temping now at this boring ass corporation in Brentwood. Whatever needs to be done to pay the bills.

Thing is, I've got ppls at Viacom, my roommate - before getting fired - tried to get me in at a place headed by two very prominent industry folks...even the connections haven't really worked out. I've been on over twenty interviews I've had four or five second interviews, so I know I'm good enough for these positions. It's been challenging.

I do beats and have been fortunate enough to have placements on shows since like '06. The backends aren't enough to live off of, though, so that's why I'm looking for a decent 9-to-5 somewhere in entertainment to supplement the old income.

With all that said, though, moving out here was one of the best things I've ever done and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. LA is dope af.
