That is the issue here. Love her music but this is a problem. At least she realizes and admit this is a problem. But like I said in the other thread I see too many black parents do this and it's a problem not talked about. If you're beating your child out of frustration or anger you're doing it wrong, ignoring the argument if spanking is good at all. If you're beating a small child for acting like... A small child, you're also are doing it wrong.
I see a lot of black parents doing this and it is most likely causing some mental issues we see in black children as it relates to anger and emotional stability. Violence is normalized and what do you think that does from a socialization aspect?

I will whip my children cause that's how you instill discipline. My parents instilled discipline in me and I will instill it in my children

Yeah my parents didn't whip me out of "anger".
Whipping happen because of what you did, and that's the punishment for it. So I agree with her saying that she shouldn't have done that.
But other than that, she did nothing wrong
And even then, that wasn't WRONG. She took care of and loved her daughter and provided a better life for her than most black girls have (access to wealth and a nice home to live in and I'm sure a good place to grow up)
So whatever. Her daughter is wrong for putting the family business on the net and honestly deserves a whipping lol. But of course she's too old for that, so I jest.
Not talking about everyone. But we can't sit up here and lie that for every parent who has a routine of "pull down your pants" and administer exactly 5 licks and then told to reflect on what you did, you have parents out here getting mad while they are shopping because their 3 year old who is naturally curious might stray and yanking them by the arm and start wailing on the kid and maybe call them nikka or bytch for a cherry on top of destroying their child's self esteem.
The first one, you can argue is done to teach a lesson or as you said, discipline. The second, is done only because the parent is mad and frustrated in the moment because a kid isn't a perfectly quiet and obedient like a monk. The latter is abuse and happens a lot.
Lauryn put it perfectly about discipline out of anger. The question is what are you angry about and is the child just a punching bag if your anger and frustration is caused by other stress combined with the difficulties of raising a child.
