The divesting movement may be new but the idea is not. It just has a new name now. Someone posted a census some pages ago showing that BW were already dating and marrying interracially (WM) more than black men until the 60s. If you read about how race relations evolved in America and around the world it shouldn't come as a surprise, white men and black women always had access to each other (i'm speaking of consensual relations of course, not raping). As I said before, it changed during the 60s when it became less dangerous for BM to "explore their options" as well, and WM had access to other races of women (Asians and Latinas).
I believe your experience but most black women do not act like that, and even the ones who do sometimes end up with a non-black man anyway, those are just words, not actions.

The way these men keep insulting themselves without even realising makes me sad. It’s so internalised and unintentional. I just want to hold them. Tell them that they are worthy and loved.
It's weird, they're pretty much saying that all non-black men have do is show interest and black women would leave in droves.
Like imagine feeling this way about the only group of women who are attracted to you at least according to statistics.

It's a bit exaggerated on thecoli but not totally untrue, some black people tend to have harsher standards applied to other black people when it comes to dating, it involves black men and also women. I think what they're saying is that the black men these fine women date are most of the times way above (financially, socially, appearance wise) the non-black men they would chose, not that black men never get beautiful black women.
Basically an average cac will get through the door simply because "at least he's white" which is a mentality some women do have.

I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but with how shyt was back then I don't feel like this is a fair data point to use since Loving v. Virginia was only 2 years before that and a white dude finding somewhere to marry him and a Black woman would be much easier than a Black man who would look to do that same thing. Not to mention the power dynamics at play in the gd 1950's, saying that's 'exploring her options' is disingenuous. Asians and Latinas existed in the 50's and I can't imagine it was less controversial to marry a Black woman over them at that time, mostly likely the cause for that insane percentage was interracial couples waiting for it to be legal. Just saying.
