The paradox doesn't just assume they'd come to us, but we'd be able to observe the remnants of their society, ie. flooded with radio signals, biproducts, possible dyson spheres around stars for the more advanced cultures.

And therein lies the problem breh, you say the paradox is a joke because of the bold, yet all it would take is just 1 society to get off their rock and be successful at colonizing planets to see their fingerprints everywhere.

It's still assumes that they would have the means for all of the things listed. It looks at everything from the perspective as if they were just like us. It's like scientists who are careful to say life as we know it. We know a lot but there is plenty more to learn. For the Fermi Paradox to hold water we would have to be at the apex of understanding these beings that we have never met. :ohhh: Great convo man. I don't think I've ever discussed this with anybody online to this extent.:ehh:

Would any one of you experts on the subject of how stars, planets, space and the universe equals there's no God care to explain the "big bang theory" and how NOTHING just magically boomed into SOMETHING 500 billion years ago?:ohhh:
Nobody educated about the Big Bang says this. It's like when critics of evolution say that we came from monkeys, I know they don't have a clue. Nothing in evolutionary studies says we came from monkeys. We have a 95% plus dna match with the primates ,the remnants of a tail bone(coccyx), people are occasionally even born with tails, we share canines with them along with many other mammals, nurse our young with milk just like them and people still scoff at evolution. The ignorance out there about evolution is staggering. But that's another thread. Also you used the word boomed, more misconceptions. The Big Bang was an expansion. There is visual proof that the universe is expanding. Stands to reason it was at a smaller state at some point. Also, I could easily turn this question back on you and ask you what came before God? We'd both be losing at that point because we don't know. You don't know because the religions of the world are faith based..you believe not know although people like to twist this to prove a point. I don't know because we've seen no visual evidence.

The way I see it... We're still trying to understand these things based upon the laws we're conformed by in our little space. Time is a law we're engaged to. Can you process the thought that who ever created the universe is not bound by time? Does it make it easier to understand that there doesn't have to be a "nothing" that predates a "something"? What If the universe itself was just always there? There's no start or no end, it doesn't expand, it's just there, a vast darkness that spreads as far as you can fathom. On the flip side, what if the universe as we know it is indeed expanding but is only allowed to fill up x space before it begins to contract. What if there are multiple universes with multiple creators that govern them. Then we begin to ask ourselves who do those creators answer to?Who creates them? How did they come to be? Why? Because we're conditioned to think that way. To every start there must be an end. An existence must have a beginning or a root, and we won't be satisfied until we get to the bottom of it. Even if the being that created it all explained it to you, would it be something you'd be able to process or accept? Why would a "God" or the "Ultimate Creator" be bound by the same laws that were created to govern us? Who created those laws? It just becomes a never ending sea of questions if we continue to apply logic as we know it to the answers.

Peace brother, I don't think the theory says something came from NOTHING, But what we know as space and time was condensed and expanded to what we see now.
The only people that believe in the concept that SOMETHING can come from NOTHING are people that believe in a God/Deity. From what I understand A God which as we describe it is SOMETHING that you or many people believe comes from NOTHING correct?

God is the beginning

The universe is expanding. Yes it was at a smaller state. Now how small are we talking? A mile small? An inch small? Lol. You prove my point (God is real) for me bcuz you can't explain it. No one can.

To the question "what came before God?" The answer is nothing BECAUSE God is the "before" the "now" and the "after"...if your next set of questions is "what, who, where, how come, how much, what size pants, what color, etc." the answer is "TMI..for now just BELIEVE"

At least my set of beliefs gives me the opportunity to say "ah haa I told you fool!!!!" after both of our hearts stop beating and we're clinically brain dead on earth, while your scientific /evidence based beliefs will allow you....nothing.

Logic as we know it can't explain everything

The Cosmos
I've thought about this so many times and it only makes sense to say god designed everything :ohhh:.

every other theory is just too :scusthov:,

occam's razor

Occam's razor doesn't apply in this case since the simplest explanation isn't that 'god' created the universe.

Honestly there is probably other life right here in our planetary system which will be discovered in the next few decades IMO. There are 2 places that more than likely have life. The first I believe is a moon that orbits Saturn called Titan that literally has an ecosystem that centers around liquid methane rather than water. There are literally rain storms and oceans of it. The moons is also full of other "nutrients" that can support life.

The second is a moon that orbits Neptune called Triton. It is covered in a 15 miles thick sheet of ice however under the surface heat is generated by the gravitational pull from Neptune and it's other moons. This (the heat under the surface) is evident my the geysers on the moon that shoot up to 200 miles into space. It is predicted that under the ice is an ocean. It is highly likely that there is life on this moon.

I am quite sure that there is a ton of life in the universe. The universe is actually made to support life. Every thing that that we are made of literally came from a star. Life is only a matter of time.

Could any planetary body with some form of liquid water be an option for life.

We could include Jupitor's moon Europa, Saturn's moon Enceladus and the dwarf planet Ceres.

I doubt it to be honest, only way I see it being possible is if China takes the approach the US had in the 1960s and goes all in on space exploration. There's just not enough funding to make the big breakthroughs we need, if NASA got half the money the military got and had kept up pressing from the 60s on, we'd probably have colonies on Mars by now.

Besides, we need to completely fukk this planet up before we do anything, it's our way :banderas:

I work for the DoD (finance and accounting) and I see the amount of money that is spent on military...every day! It's appalling how little NASA is funded.

Y'all think in our lifetime we will find life on another planet? Or maybe a discovery in space that will change humanity here on earth ?

It's my hope before I die that life on another planet is confirmed. Whether it's simple life or advanced life...any discovery will just be amazing and I hope still alive when it happens.

Do you kats listen to yourself? Anyway we will just agree to disagree. The thread is derailing and I really am not crazy about discussing science with believers because they end up peddling faith as fact, which is an obvious oxymoron. They don't realize that their beliefs are saturated in Catch 22s that prevent them from ever truly attaining any true knowledge until after their death. I can tell you that the universe is expanding and can show you proof all over the place. As far as that question about just how much of a smaller state, only somebody with nothing to offer and a poor understanding would go there. Sorry breh I'm not falling for the bait. A cm? An inch? It's trillions of light years across now and was less before and there's proof and that is my point. I don't need faith for that because I can see it. You on the other hand have zip visual proof of anything. I'm just pointing it out and you have admitted it. That verifies my understanding of things. So we actually broke even huh? :troll:

Good convo as always. We're just at too far away of a spectrum.

I don't see how anybody can sit back, study something and say, this won't make a lick of sense until I am dead. :usure: Sounds like a scam going on. If it was anything else at all, you would be like :camby:. But you jump up and say, it's not the same! You don't know that you just have faith that you do! But I respect your faith breh. Just can't share it. Give me what I can see.

The phenomenal shyt that goes on in the universe still has the biggest sharpest brains (and computers) like WTF?!:mindblown:

Eintseins theory of relativity turns to a nice warm pile of shyt when used to equate what goes on in the universe outside our atmosphere.

Scientists are building a 10 billion dollar machine to analyze PARTICLES in hopes that it would shed some light or explain whatever the fukk all that black shyt is in the background in space because they HAVE NO CLUE

My beliefs in God aren't just about the eternal party in paradise when we die, for me it's a lot deeper than that but it sure is fun rubbing it in when the smartest mfer can't explain how something came from nothing / something TURNS TO nothing in regards to our universe.

Non believers...:umad:
