You asking a lot of what if's breh. The bottom line is the bottom line. How many teams have built a team via trade outside of LAL, Miami and Boston?

Which is why I am suggesting a system that gives more of those teams an opportunity to acquire top players rather than being stuck on the treadmill because they are too good for the lottery and not good enough to compete for a title.

Nobody says its guaranteed but its the only chance alto of teams have at ever getting a sueprstar so why not take that chance rather then stay in medicority?

This isnt mlb or nfl where the best tema doesnt always win and a team nobody thought could win a title gets hot one year, the best teams with the best players always win titles

where does Calipari say he didnt draft Kobe because Kobe told him no?

I just looked up all articles from his time before the NBA draft. What's was said about him that wasn't said about Adam Morrison? KVH had a SUPERIOR career to Morrison but I am talking before the draft. Scott Layden praised KVH speed but I don't see anyone calling him a potential superstar before the draft.

This draft has 5-6 potential superstars, yes its not guaranteed but its still better than what your going to get normally.

Those all time greats are going at the top of the draft you dont build your team around mid and low first rounders

Here's my take
1-7 pick: 1st round NFL pick.
8-14 pick late lotto: 2nd round NFL pick.
15-23 pick: 3rd round NFL pick
24-30 pick: 4th round NFL Pick
early 2nd pick: 5th round NFL pick
mid 2nd pick: 6th round NFL pick
late 2nd pick: 7th round NFL pick

So building your team around mid first is like building a NFL team around 3rd rounders.

Tanking, as much as we use the word is in a way giving way too much credit to bad teams. Why can't bad teams just be trash? It's not line the Kings would be hanging with the Miami's and OKC's of the world if they just tried harder.

The other issue messing teams up is that you have to spend to win. In a perfect world, everyone eats and pays the lux but that won't happen
