I can't recall an actual criticism of Drake's music

I played the new album and wasn't moved. Knowing me it'll be a grower (pause) though I care less and less as the years wear on. I know from good and this one ain't too fresh.

Imma a drake fan historically.

Weak singing, repetitive subjects, bites lyrics, "see through them like fish tanks without fish in them"

I like Drake but there is plenty of legitimate criticism that can be made about his music...

From limited or repetitive subject matter, problems with pitch and tone to Southern appropriations...

Subject matter is not a legitimate criticism for anybody in music

Lack of growth and development is a legit criticism..Whether its a stand up comedian's set or a recording artists music...Predictability can be a problem even if you do something really well..
No it's not. Because the criticism is basically the artist isn't rapping about what I want them to.

Whether it's Nas, Jay, Rakim or Ross rappers rap about the same shyt throughout their career

These people have sensibilities that always feel comfortable rapping about when their in the booth

Most rappers have problems with growth and diversity in subject matter.. This isn't a criticism exclusive to Drake... I'm not singling him out...I'm critical of any artist thats afraid or unwilling to step out of their comfort zone...

What do you consider stepping out of your comfort zone?

Taking risks and trying something that hasn't been proven to work for you in the past..
It doesn't always have to be strictly lyrical content based...
Even though he got criticized for it, Wayne doing a rock album is a good example...

The Wayne Rock album was awful

We have Kanye to keep trying to do something new and different just cause

Why wouldn't we want rappers to be the best them? If I want something different I can get that from someone else

How do you know what the "best you" even is if you're afraid to challenge yourself and take risks?

And I didn't realize that Kanye had to have the market cornered on creativity in Black music..

:russ:

To be clear I like Drake now in the moment...But the hour glass is slipping on how long I personally will accept the status quo from him.. I eventually got tired of Run DMC... As great as you are at doing "your" thing, if that thing doesn't evolved I will eventual grow weary of you...I realize that I might just be different.., Jay-Z has been making the same song for the past 15 years and people still get excited about his "new music"...

What do you consider creative. YEEZUS was horrible h doesn't get props because it sounds different from the status quo.

Drake on this new shyt is different from Take care flow and delivery wise.

He is attacking tracks much differently now

It's not like he's Lupe or Common using the same monotonous flow since the beginning of their career

I will give him credit for that.. He has kept finding new ways to say the same things...The next evolution is for him to find new THINGS to say aswell... Maybe that will eventually come from him living more life that will give him more material to draw from..It's like the comedian that gets married, has kids and gets divorced, then has a wealth of material that he didnt when he was 25 and single...

I feel like he is talented and observant enough to evolve as an artist..But if his audience never demands it from him he may never feel the need to...

what do you mean by repetitive subjects same could be said about cole, jadakiss and other rappers, yall just hate on anything thats popular :drakewtf:
Yup and it's still a weak point. Pusha T is another good example. J Cole is somewhere in the middle.
