They stopped him at the parking lot when he was going to his car. Kobe thought the entire convo was off the record. He even mentioned another woman by name that he himself was having an affair with and he was begging the police to not tell his wife and the media about the rape charge, because he thought she would leave him and he would lose all his endorsements. Dude was nervous and was basically saying everything that came to his head. He wasn't like "Shaq is a cheater too!" He was like fukk this girl is after money, I should have payed her off from the jump like Shaq does with his women. That's all he said. That statement is better, but you don't know what you'll say when the police just randomly comes up to you, say you've been accused of rape and start interrogating you. Most people aren't going to think logically especially when they are as young as Kobe was at the time.
