I can't understand why every team in the NFL is not trying to interview David Shaw

David Shaw doing right by staying. The recent history of the teams General Managers that need a coach outside of Philly and Giants aint worth leaving for. San Fran, Cleveland, Tenn and Miami firing coaches for nothing.

I understand what ya'll saying about the Browns job and whatnot, but if I was Shaw I'd leave Stanford for the Giants job (and they would be fools not to consider him).

I'm pretty sure Shaw has shut everybody down that has asked him about a nfl coaching job...during one of the bowl games there was some dude saying for the last two years nfl gm's have been asking him to come interview and he has been :camby:

Honestly...nfl head coaching is the last type of coaching job somebody could "want" so I don't blame him...

i don't understand why people won't believe that he doesn't want to leave stanford (at the moment)

there are a bunch of CEO's of start ups that are happier being the CEO there than the CEO of a fortune 500...same thing with college, you don't have to move to the pros to be "on top"

if u a black coach in college with a winner and the nfl jobs that's going to come your way will be jobs i.e. cleveland where it's no hope anytime soon you'll stay in college

now the indy job would be my first choice if i'm david shaw cause u can win that division almost every year and buy u time to stay a coach, where as in cleveland they fire your black ass in 1 year

Why go make equal money or minimally more money to work under someone else, when you have full control of your job/team right now?

Again, it's a different day...have you noticed how much attention the college football playoff is getting? Only the Superbowl gets more.

These college coaches now use the NFL jobs as a bargaining tool to get more money.

The NFL success is all based on whether or not you get the right Qb. If you noticed 99% of the coaches who are fired have no QB. So when I leave my high profile college gig I'm betting on whether or not I can find a great young QB in 3 years I'm fired

I understand there are some :mjpls: forces at work here, but I've also read about Duce Staley, Teryl Austin getting interviews and possible interest in Kevin Sumlin.

Philly wrong for that one, they know what they were doing :mjpls: But if you ask me they should give Duce a shot, not just parade him in there to fulfill some Rooney rule

He's way too conservative for my liking. I'd hire Sumlin over him.

The academic standards at Stanford are rough; the current offense at Stanford is probably by design because of that. Get you some monsters up front on the DL and OL. That's why we haven't seen a lot of spread and air raid type offenses out of Stanford. That's why you I think Shaw stays for awhile, unless Stanford starts getting greedy and thinking :jbhmm: "when we gonna get ourselves one of them shiny national championships" and deciding "we might be able to do better"

nope, we're simply happy to be a top 15 football program while also being a top 5 academic institution. as long as you're not buddy teevens/walt harris bad, you're safe
