Paying early is for stars. Bland was pretty bland last year even giving him the injury excuse.

Inside the Micah Parsons trade: How things fell apart in Dallas, and why Green Bay moved quickly
Micah Parsons wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy "for life." The disputed nature of a March meeting with Jerry Jones helped chart a course for his exit.
Everything I’ve heard from Micah and his agent in the last 48 hours has convinced me that Micah is having some regret at this point.
This doesn’t justify the FO incompetence. We could and should have signed him to a 40 AAV extension last summer.
With that being said, it seems pretty obvious that Micah and his agent were playing hardball and thought they were going to strongarm Jerry into acquiescing to their demands. The Jones family always folds. They folded for Zeke, Dak x2, CeeDee. They no doubt thought Jerry didn’t have the audacity to trade the best player on the roster. Micah was going to get his money and Mulugheta was going to get an ego W over Jerry.
I don’t think we’ve had a bigger attention-seeking player for this attention-seeking franchise like Micah in recent memory. Was TO the last guy?
This guy went from wearing the Star on his helmet and guaranteed to be in the ring of honor for the most valuable franchise in the world to Wisconsin.
He went from having his own podcast on BR and having his own weekly appearances on Undisputed (backed out and never began) not because he got sacks or defended well, but because he plays for the Cowboys to Wisconsin.
He went from lifetime endorsements in tax-free, good weather state to Wisconsin.
Yeah. No wonder he and his agent keep talking about how they wanted to stay in Dallas. Now he’s in Wisconsin. He wanted his fair share and his agent seemingly had bigger contract demands than he did as a player. But they overplayed their hand against a demented imbecile.
And now everybody loses
