So why aint her poppin? they was on the same team? Where;s his hit?

Jeezy damn sure didn't ultimately make YG blow up. YG blew up with "cookie cutter" singles. "Toot it n booted" then rode the new popular "ratchet" sound, he had the hottest producer in the game in his back pocket (mustard)

Gibbs is a more well rounded artist

I love Gibbs, but he's an old soul in the sense that he's wordy and technical with it, and that's a disaster combination to have if one is looking to achieve mainstream success in this climate. People today want to be spoon fed with simplicity and feel good music. They don't want too many syllables, and don't want to hit the rewind button to figure out, "what he say?" They want catchy hooks, and nursery rhymes, and I don't knock that as there needs to be room in the game for that, but unfortunately artists like Gibbs suffer in this business. Which again, for emphasis, this is a business, which means monkey see-monkey do when a formula for success becomes evident. As a result we're saturated with the mundane. These labels aren't going to take the time and effort to invest signicant resources in someone like a Gibbs.

A similar artist to me is Pusha-T who can rhyme circles around most rappers today, but he's too good for his own damn good. It's funny when you think about it because people love ignorance and negativity in this music. They wan't dope, guns, movin Ki's, Cuz and Blood, hollow tips, yak yak yak yak.. But they want it presented in baby talk and nursery hooks with subtle Pop overtures. Pusha and Gibbs definately rhyme about the subject matter that people want, but they way they present it causes the casuals to yawn. Which is fukkin sad btw. Very disappointing that people don't expect and demand lyrical ability. They're casuals just like casual fans of boxing that can't appreciate a technical fighter like Lara or think Mayweather fights are boring and only buy the PPV hoping he'll lose. That same mentality is why some dikkheads sh!t on Pusha, or Gibbs, or 90's artists.
