yall gotta be kiddin me if you think this nikka Gibbs would've blew up if he was in Jeezy era as if the competition wasn't much heavier....he's built to be a background nikka that kill shyt....im not sure what Gibbs even lost out on exactly,what was Jeezy getting paid off of if he only put out mixtapes while he was over there on cte
?...he was better off staying over that and getting thrown on a Jeezy or YG track which could potentially be a hit from time to time,and just be that background nikka like he's built for but getting his money
....I remember when I was young and naïve and thought Jayo Felony and Paul Cain shoulda been superstars too

Jeezy gotta stop signing dudes on the grounds he think they real nigggas too though....its hard to blame dudes when they start to think CTE is a charity fulfilling real nikkas dreams to make the transition from the streets to the famenikkas that don't wanna play the industry lets all be fake friends game but don't cry when shyt don't go how you want it to go.
And cut that YG was a success before Jeezy shyt out,its partly true buteven YG said he was having trouble wit Defjam and was shelf status before Jeezy stepped in,and that Jeezy helped him improve as a rapper so you crazy trying to not give him no credit
Yeah I read those posts thinking they were ironic as hell...considering Gibbs actually did initially come up during that era...he was signed to interscope in like '04-'05 right around the same time jeezy signed to def jam...ended up getting shelved and eventually dropped on not so good terms...then reemerged and had a run as a blog rap favorite a few years later in the late 00's before he linked up with jeezy (he was on the XXL freshman cover a year or 2 before Jeezy signed him if i remember right)...i think Gibbs biggest problem far as blowing on a bigger level is that it's hard to blow as a "super real nikka street rapper" if you don't have a major movement bubbling on the stretes locally in your own region...the "i'm the realest nikka in the universe" lane doesn't really work when random white boys on the internet that can barely find G.I. on a map become your core fanbase before you establish yourself as such locally and regionally...he had an uphill battle doing that considering Gary's rap scene isn't really thriving like that (he would have had to pull a jeezy and try to get hot in the Chi like Jeezy did in ATL after leaving macon or whatever in GA he's from originally)...linking up with an already established and successful artist is a way you can bypass that process (had he got down with g-unit during his first interscope run he would've went platinum), so i thought the CTE thing might have a lil potential...but it didn't really end up working out...you kind of alluded to it, but the "i'm too real for the industry" schtick ends up becoming a self fulfilling prophecy ...you endure yourself to internet rap smarks that eat that sh!t up, but it closes doors for you at the same time...and jeezy didn't have the best rep for breaking artists, so I can see why labels might not have been jumping at the opportunity to sign some previously dropped act that he was shopping
The good thing in Gibbs case was that he was just trying to use jeezy as a jump board, so it's not like his career is over just because the cte shyt didn't work out...he still has his own fanbase, he still has his rap smark people's champ lane and he's one of the more visible and popular "underground" rappers out and he's getting more and more acclaim for dropping dope projects...Pinata is going to be all over year end AOTY lists...so he'll be more than fine

Jeezy isn't an A&R in a traditional sense (which is ironic since he really IS an A&R at Atlantic) so he doesn't know how to develop talent or find the right type of talent. A guy like Freddie Gibbs is a talent & COULD be developed if he's put on the right songs, on the right tours and connected with the right DJs. You underestimate how connected CTE was at one point in the industry, especially here in Atlanta. Everybody would come through their studios (artists, magazines, DJs, radio people, etc) if the same effort was given to push Gibbs, Gibbs COULD have made Jeezy his investment back & built upon that. I just think Jeezy got lazy, expected Gibbs to make himself hot, he didn't and then dropped him. Same shyt happened to Bloodraw and anybody else who has signed with Jeezy.

I've heard Cocaine Piñata and I don't see how he can blow up without changing his style a bit. I mean he raps in a style where you have to be an active listener to get anything he is saying. If you just throw on his music and start doing something else you will be nodding your head to the beat but all them lyrics gonna fly right by. When listening to Gibbs I often start thinking of who else would sound good on these beats and having a Gibbs feature.

dope post,Freddie always reminded me of a less interesting Bun B in terms of listening....i thought him and Jeezy coulda made a good team as on wax Jeezy is the flashy charismatic counterpart like Pimp C was....too bad duos don't work out no more cuz i think in a duo Gibbs could actually go farther if he had a partner who had star power and was charismatic but maybe lacked in making dope bodies of wok musically unlike him....put em with a Young Dro type of nikka and they could go far imo
