kyrie is hurt every year. When that excuse gonna get old?

Kyrie is definitely injury prone

doesn’t change the fact that Durant and lebron pre super team never got to play their biggest threat with 2 of their top 3 players injured

I think using this as some sort of “lebron and kd could never” is dishonest

That’s no knock on giannis

Right but Durant also hasn't won a title without having another top 5 player by his side. That's not really an attack on him as a player but having a guy by your side that you know is going to deliver in a big way most nights is a definite luxury and i do think that's why ultimately Durant wasn't happy on GSW because it became a 1a and 1b team instead of his team.

but then the Nets turns into the same thing. You had some dudes sayin Harden was the MVP of the team etc.

For as good as Middleton and Jrue can be on some nights, they aren't consistent and there's no question that it's Giannis team. That's special. Those type of NBA titles are what end up being elevated by historians, fans and media.. it was always Jordan and the Bulls or Magic and the Lakers or Bird's Celtics or kobe's Lakers (his 4th and 5th)

Chicago
Curry/klay/Draymond was not a super team btw. Curry was the only top ten player on that team. But the other two are all-stars and the rest of the team was deep. So yeah they were loaded but not top heavy.
I said the same. GS wasn’t a super team until it KD got there.

The bottom line is, it’s great to see competitiveness rewarded.

Sure he got a lot of help with injuries to opponents, but every single champion crowned has managed that accomplishment through a mix of fortunate circumstances/events and persevering in the face of adversity. Given the fact that Giannis himself was injured there is no question he went through enough adversity. And given the fact that he dropped 50 points, including great foul shot shooting (which had been a major criticism of his) in a close out game where he needed to be great in order for them to win, there’s no question that he rose to the occasion.

He earned the right to talk that shyt even if the result wasn’t guaranteed; especially since it wasn’t guaranteed. He did it his way. And won. If you fix your mouth to say “but….” anything, you’re a hater. I’m glad another great player, great player won’t have to retire without having reached the pinnacle.

So salute Giannis, you deserve that shyt. :salute:

Multiple franchise players. :yeshrug:

2 Top 5 players + other all-stars or 3 top ten players

:ehh:

I know an individual can make a huge difference in the NBA.... but you need more than 3 to play the game and win........You need an entire team... which is much more than 3

Pop and Duncan went to 6 finals and won 5 and they never had a “super” team per the new media’s definition....
Kobe and Shaq lost to a blue collar Pistons team
I saw the Dream and company beat an odds favored(I believe) Orlando team with super stars Shaq and Penny....
shyt, Dirk and them beat Wade, Bron, and Bosh.... and there are probably a few more examples I can’t think of at the moment...

You can go even further and say that even though the HEAT had a “super” team in 2013, somehow the lowly Spurs were still favored to win the finals.... :russ:

but I say all that to say that the modern notion of a super team is a media creation and has no merit...... A super team is one that wins at a high clip at the end of the day, regardless of if their are perceived superstars on the roster.......
