Can a whale kill a human with its voice?
Answer (1 of 5): Potentially… Sperm whales are actually the world’s loudest animal, and their clicks can reach 230 decibels (ie. louder than a jet engine during takeoff!). This allows them to communicate over hundreds of miles as well as echolocating prey such as squid. It also means the clicks...www.quora.com
the blue whale is the loudest animal. They produce 188 decibels of sound. For scale, a human shouting is 70 decibels, a jet engine is 140 decibels. Sounds over 120 decibels are painful for humans. 150 decibels will burst a human eardrum. 200 decibels can rupture your lungs. Above 210 decibels, your brain will hemorrhage. However a sperm whale can also reach 230 decibels but this only lasts 0.1 of a second, meaning it’s not audible to us. Pressure waves travel differently in water, softening a 200 dB click to 174 dB (still enough to rupture your eardrums). The threshold for death is considered about 185–200 decibels. So even though the blue whale and the sperm whale can produce calls within that, the way that sound travels in water means that this wouldn’t kill you (but still damage your hearing significantly)
Man….I see this all the time about them being the biggest animals that have ever been on earth but idk ima need to see one in person. They really bigger than some of the dinosaurs that used to roam around??
