I maintaim, any competent defensive coordinator could have won a ring w/ Peyton. Wade Phillips woulda won multiple rings w/ Peyton in Indy. Hell, Jack Del Rio woulda won a couple. Brady and Beli carved up that Tampa 2 for the most part. The fact that Jim Caldwell coulda went undefeated, should tell u who ran that team.

To be fair, thay Offense didn't allow them yo really stack talent on d. Manning, Harrison, Wayne, Dallas Clark demanded top dollar. Their D was designed to play w/ a lead. When they started moving Sanders in the box and made Mathis and Freeney actually play the run, they got hot.
Cover 2 is basically designed to keep people in front of u amd not give up big plays. The only reason it was good in Tampa and in Chicago w/ Lovie is personnel. They had elite athletes at every level of the D. Indy had small LBs that would get pushed around in the run gm. Thats why Bob Sanders was the real mvp. That dude was elite. But when he got hurt, the d was soft again. I blame Dungy for that as well as not demanding Peyton handed off more and limited his audibles. Every qb needs limits. Brady has limits.
