Not saying I am for it, but how exactly does military spending destroy the economy? Deficit spending on wars is positive for the economy, all else equal.

They just need to find a new focal point for a hate campaign and stroke fear, Iran fits the bill, ISIS is pathetic and China is out of the question.

The problem is ability, the US is not able to attack Iran at the moment.

The diplomatic and economic avenues have been closed by the P5+1 Nuclear Deal, and the US will never again get UN authority to do anything.

This only leaves an illegitimate solo strike against Iran probably with Israel.

If they do this crazy action, there will be no limits, no such thing as a limited air campaign.

If you hit Iranian sites, you will lose Iraq. Afghanistan's government also equally depends on Iran as much as the US and they can pull the plug of support. $6 trillion on both of those projects since 2001 and you lose both due to a war with Iran.

You will have daily missile strikes on Bahrain's US bases and the temptation to put boots on the ground to "defend allies" will be irresistible.

You'd piss off countries like India, Turkey, and South Korea who are US allies benefiting from Iranian trade and energy. You'd effectively destroy or damage parts of their economies.

If you are stupid enough to start a war with Iran you are stupid enough to invade and the US doesn't even have half the manpower necessary and it would cost trillions.

Lets wait and see, but this sounds like bluffing and bluster.

Russians are white, so the Trump base isn't concerned or impressed. Saber rattling at Iran represents a "take no shyt" approach to "radical Islamic terrorism", which his base eats up. People who hate him will never nothate him. Trump's job is to keep his supporters on his side.

It is clear that there is a civil war in the US deep state, and a war with Iran would allow victory for Trump's suporters and gain support from the neocons (who opposed him) over their rivals allowing them to cement their power.

Russia and China are risk averse and want a stable Iran to protect their vulnerable underbelly in Central Asia. Diplomatic support is high and deals are being implemented.

But if the US acts irrationally into another stupid war, there is a lot of gain for Moscow/Beijing from a geostrategic point of view.

This will accelerate the decline of the US Empire and if Iran is to sacrificed so be it.

Though I really doubt it will come to that.
