there is a reason why gerald green dropped to 18th in the draft even though he was the best hs player in the country.

andrew wiggins would be a top 3 pick in any draft in the past 10 years

Lol Americans being mad that a Canadian is good? :skip:...Geez I've heard it all. The point for me in particular is that Wiggins skill set is no where near Lebrons at 18. That simple. Lebron at 18 was better than any other player at 18.

Kobe?

Garnett?

Wiggins?

Be real.

:stopitslime:i think some of yall nikkas need to go back n watch dem Lebron HS tapes

dude good but he aint nowhere near Bron was in HS not even close

Yeah I'm seeing the athleticism but I'm not seeing any amazing BASKETBALL plays. When Bron passed in HS it was crisp and always on the money. Just watched the YouTube vid and I wasn't blown away. He just looked like he could jump higher than everybody. :yeshrug:

But the kid is from the T Dot and they say he's a good kid so I wish him well. But I think the comparisons are unfair because people love to hype these young boys up and now he has to live up to that hype or he'll be considered a bust.

I'll reserve judgement til I see him play in college because I coulda swore they were hyping up the Muhammad kid last year and he was just aight.

Exactly. They are doing this kid a disservice. When Lebron was 17 after watching him play it was evident at worst he'd a 17 ppg 8 board 5 assists a game guy. At worst. Lebron's ceiling still isn't maxed at 28 :wow: as he improves on his jumper and post play. The comparisons are silly.

The kid looks good. I'm not sure he has the same development arc as Seventh... but Wiggins is the most well-rounded player in this class right now.

I guess I just don't know what the bar is for this conversation, is this one of those "if he ain't as nice as bron he ain't shyt" conversations?

I get the reactionary "let's wait and see" - because OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE TO SEE HOW HE TURNS OUT - but let's not use that as a crutch, so that in 2 years you can up a thread and be like "see I said this high schooler wasn't shyt!"

It's all projection at this age.
Even if these idiots upped this thread in 3-4 years because Wiggins busted out, it wouldnt even change fact that they were dead ass wrong in 7/13.

That is what they dont get.

Wiggins is pretty everything you could want in a prospect at this age. An absolute freak athlete with length, handles, ability to finish and a decent jumper.

People place so much emphasis on athleticism when it comes to basketball now that it warps their perception of actual basketball "skill (e.g., Rudy Gay, Z-Bo)."Basketball is, and will always be, a game of skill that's correlated to size. That's why someone like Samuel Dalmbert is in the league and Rodney Carney isn't. While Wiggins is a great athlete, it doesn't automatically mean he's going to be this transcendent player. When you're talking about elite players, you're talking about them being all world in 2-3 categories. Wiggins is not "elite" in any basketball skill right now comparative to his size.

Obviously, he's 18 and can develop that. But, it's not some guarantee. It's purely hypothetical. And there's so many variables that go into that. How will he react when he gets money? Will he, as Chris Paul said, "relax?" What will his mindset be? What's his temperament? Why does he even play basketball? Certainly, someone like Kobe plays basketball for entirely different reasons than someone like Dwight, and so on. And that's just the psychological stuff. What if he's just as good as he's going to get? We see this all the time. OJ Mayo, anyone?

I do think Wiggins is going to be a good player. But, like John Thompson said, "Anybody can be good, but greatness is hard." There's so much that goes into being truly great at anything, and people underestimate that. I don't think he's going to be Durant or Super Cool Beas at KSU. It will be interesting to see how he does in college where the space probably more restrcited than he's accustomed to. It seems like his pet move is that spin move. I really want to see if he's effective with that.
