Life before Gemini seems like a fever dream. I can ask it any stupid question I have. I just press the side key and go. 85% of the time it has a decent answer for me but I've caught it hallucinating before. Has me daily driving an Android phone again due to the deeper integration.

Yesterday mom was like "I wish I had this picture of me without my brother in it" so I share it to my phone "hey gemini remove this man from the picture" and it comes up with a picture you'd swear was actually taken him removed.

Watching a YouTube video and hold the home icon "what's the logo on this guy's hat?" It instantly figures it out for me.

I kinda ignored AI mostly due to others negative sentiment but I'm a believer. Life should have always been this way.

Ive been on a similar kick.
I have a max monthly Anthropic Claude sub and a $20 ChatGPT sub.

The main thing im doing is vibe coding a site that helps me stay up to date with markets.

Once you start digging into AI you realize how much you can do with it.

At work last week the company uploaded this blurry picture and I had it act like a CSI computer tech and enhance it and it actually re-renderer the picture and sharpened it. I couldn't believe it it did that.

Sometimes I take a pic of something random and see if I can stomp it and usually even if it's wrong it's in the ballpark of being right. It does cheat and use info it has access to about me to identify some stuff. Took a pic of an iPad and it used my Google account to identify the exact model but it did know it was an iPad Pro without that.

I use deepseek all the time. It's useful and can organize information for me. Gemini is useful for some pictures I might want to play around with.

Id be on this train if this processing was local. Otherwise, everything I request, and I mean everything, is captured.
Also be sure to remember that getting you addicted on the service is the point. It is nice that Google can absorb the cost, however I do not believe users are paying for how much processing they are using.

I've recently installed a GPU in one of my MiniPCs and been using Ollama to play around with local models. You should try that out if you're into self-hosting.

Already done. This was the part of AI that excited me, and still does. Just got a bit distracted with life.
I passed my son an A5000 i got from my previous role and he has it running just that. Playing with Ollama is a lot of fun, provided you have the RAM and GPU for it to give you decently quick responses with a large enough token window.
When I get back motivated, I want to implement a local LLM that just is a cache of my notes. I lost a shyt ton of notes after I was shytcanned so I said fukk it for a min.

There's no way it could be half as useful at all the processing was all local. The reason it's so amazing is because it ties into all the information Google has and Google knows more about any of us than anyone else anyway.

I dont ascribe to the inevitability of them continuing to know everything about me but to each their own

I use it daily. to recreate commercial recipes at home with clean ingredients, shyt is accurate. I done made hidden valley ranch, tastykake koffee kakes and a bunch of other shyt. to get better mixes on my music, you can upload anything. to read and explain contracts. upload manuals and just ask what I need from em. best of all my job uses a proprietary platform and gemini is actually familiar with it. my code is damn near bulletproof. I even had some weird shyt going on with my stomach not too long ago and that mf walked me thru what was happening and why
