I dont post here often, but what do you lay down 1st: drums or melody?

I have done both, but I prefer layin my melody 1st

Workin on a beat as we speak, and I layed the main melody down first.

I just let it replay until i figure what drums to put around it.

If I'm sampling, the sample and chops gets layed 1st 100% of the time for me

it all depends.. i usually do the drums in my head first. but i also do the melody too.

depends....if I'm doing something from scratch without a sample I normally start with some drums just to get some motivation. sorta like back in the day when a nikka was beat boxing and shyt
