Cheating is a very unfortunate thing in life. I've been with my wife for almost 20 years and married for 16, but regardless of how my wife looks I see her the same way. Patreus and a lot of other women don't and I'm not sure if I'll feel that way in 20 years or so. Marriage is very complicated. I can assure you this, he didn't do it just because he was no longer physically attracted to her there were other things at play.
