I worked for the fed for a year and a half and quit that shyt almost 3 years ago and it was the best decision of my life. shyt is a toxic environment with a bunch of incompetent people who get moved into managerial positions because of seniority and they kissed the right ass. No one gets fired and there is no efficiency in the workflow. all you see everyday is a bunch of miserable people who have accepted mediocrity.

it all depends on your perspective. I work a Gov job and yes there are lazy employee. My team however, works hard. I know that there are perks in the private field that I wont get in the Gov (higher paying salary) but for me the pros of working in Gov far outweigh the cons. For me personally I do not want to be too emotionally invested in any organization or corporation, which is typically what happens if you want to move up in the private realm.

Working in Gov allows me the work/life balance I need to focus on my own personal ventures while simultaneously giving me a nice and comfortable middle class lifestyle.
And yes there are a lot of miserable people and they are even more bitter when approaching retirement. If you sont have anything else going on in your life you will become a victim of mediocrity in gov positions and you will be bitter for wasting away all those years. That is why its important to detach yourself from the workplace and focus ventures on the outside. At least that is my strategy
