They are the preeminent players of the last 2 decades on the preeminent franchises of that same time span who have both spent their entire careers on the same squad and had numerous playoff battles. 
I have no idea why they would be compared. 
All that said nobody gives fukk about Duncan vs. Kobe or Duncan vs. anybody for that matter. Duncan is just a convenient historical add-in when younger, more exciting players aren't available.
