answer these quick questions

who's the best player in the series?

who's the best coach in the series?

who's better 2009 Pau or 2014 Duncan?

Kobe

Coaches are a wash

Pau grew a pair that year but SA can score and defend just as good or even better than Orlando

Kobe and Shaq dominating in 2001

And Fisher's .4 in 2004

Goes beyond coaching :manny:

Spurs were a flawed team in 04.

Fisher shooting 15-20 from 3 that series broke it wide open. Plus anderson tried to play hurt in games 3 and 4 and it was a disaster.

I would've liked to see the 99 spurs vs the 01 Lakers.

however much momentum this convo had, it died atleast 6 years ago. revisiting this shyt is just a smokescreen and consolation prize because "operation bron > kobe" just took a gigantic punch to the arse.

:wow:Somebody gets it.

There's gonna be no changing anyone's mind at this point. Kobe will always be better in my eyes because he had 15 straight years of stellar play while Duncan started going downhill after '08. Spurs were a MUCH more stable organization too and Duncan didn't have to continue playing heavg minutes like Kobe.

Nothing wrong with a healthy debate but I do agree with the poster who said they are not held to the same standard. Duncan isn't held to same standard as other superstars like LeBron too. People call Bron, LeBronze but Duncan was the one leading that team and got a Bronze too. Kobe shoots 6-24 in game 7 of a Finals. Duncan goes 10-28 in a game 7 of a Finals and no one brings that up or criticizes it. Dude is Teflon Don. That's actually pretty impressive.

Duncan has always played the humble, hard working role to a T. It also helps that he plays for a small market in San Antonio. Kobe is arrogant and came in the game as 17 year old kid imitating a man who everyone idolized. A lot of the ire Kobe gets has less to do with son as a basketball player and more to do with his demeanor. Kid knew he was the shyt and never placated fans by playing humble. Add to the fact that he's supremely talented, bullheaded, came in as MJ was exiting the game, achieved a monumental amount of success early in his career, and played for the franchise that is the most loved and loathed in basketball, it's no surprise why he has as many detractors as he does fans. It was the perfect storm. We won't have another athlete as polarizing in basketball for years.
