Even before the story came out about the "soft release" thing, it was obvious that's what was going on here. WWE letting him go to refresh himself and up his value to the smark crowds. It was very clearly from day one when he was only working with indies that have been working with WWE lately.

It's hard for me to take anything he says seriously when he was hired as a teenager with no previous experience, and got a 9 year run in WWE as a favor to his dad.

Yes. Just like they had Bryan cut a promo about looking up Bryan Danielson stuff, had Punk's "pipe bomb", had Cena name dropping ROH and PWG to prop up AJ, and are currently running a cruiserweight tournament where they show clips of dudes from various indies and puro promotions.

Clearly the idea from the start was to have Cody do a bunch of indies, get the stink of Stardust off of him, then be brought back to the company as Cody with new indie cred within a year. There is no fukking way Cody Rhodes is spending the rest of his career on the indies in front of 500 people max. Get real.

Nah i think he can and will come back but it wasnt their idea or dome master plan. I think he got bored and left. Carlito and shelton and mvp all had similar outings albeit different circumstances
