Couldn't fit the whole quote in the title, but wanted to cover the main racist remark that D-Von alluded to in Maven's podcast weeks ago. No ambiguity here, D-Von goes into full detail when JR said the racist remarks to him. He says in the first incident ross was extremely drunk, the story starts at minute 4:00. Here's a word transcript from a WZ article:
“So, again, I’ll go back. It was at the WWE restaurant, the grand opening of it,” D-Von Dudley began. “We were mingling with some of the guests. A lot of them were musical artists, and there were some actors and actresses. WWE really rolled out the red carpet for this event. It was huge. I remember being upstairs, and Bubba (Bully Ray) was like, ‘Let’s go downstairs and see what’s going on down there.’ So we went downstairs, and we’re looking around, and it was like another private room… Here comes JR. JR comes down, and we’re like, ‘Hey JR.’ He goes, ‘Boys, how you guys doing?’ Me and Bubba were like, ‘Good, good.’ He was like, ‘Hey, you know what boys? You guys are fitting in really good here. I like you boys, a lot. D-Von, I’m not too sure, the verdict is still out on him.’ I’m not too sure how to particularly feel about this. I’m saying to myself, ‘What does he mean by that?’
"JR says, ‘You know, again, the verdict’s not out yet, but I’m still a little hesitant with D-Von.’ And Bubba knew where he was getting at. So Bubba butts in and goes, ‘You know something, JR? Regardless to what, D-Von’s a hard worker, he never gives this company any problems, we’re going in doing our business, and that’s it…’ And JR continues to go, ‘Well, I get that. That’s all good, but there’s something about him. I’m not sure,'” D-Von Dudley said.
“I’m not saying anything, and I’m keeping quiet, and finally that’s when it comes out, ‘You know, he’s black. I don’t know. That’s my hiccup. I don’t know how I could feel about that.’ I started balling up my fist, and Bubba saw that. So Bubba grabbed me, and he goes, ‘Yeah, but you know what, JR? Black, while, purple, brown, it doesn’t matter. He’s a great human being.’ JR says, ‘Oh, no, I’m not saying that he’s not, but I just don’t know. You know that he’s black, and I just don’t know about that.’
“At that point, I was just like, ‘Man!’ I had to think about it. If I hit him, we’re gonna lose our jobs; if I say something, I could lose my job, because at that time, I didn’t think that I would be able to fight that. I’m a little fish in a big pond. Remind you, though, when he said it, he was very drunk, slurring his words. They say when you’re drunk, the truth comes out,” D-Von Dudley said.
2nd Incident
“Then the other incident, like I said, was in Indianapolis, where myself, Dreamer, Bubba, Heyman, and Spike was sitting at the table… I think JR just came in the catering, he just got out of the meeting. He comes over and says hello to everybody but me. Paul Heyman pretty much called him out, saying, ‘What? Why you don’t want to say hello to D-Von? What’s wrong with D-Von? What, because he’s black?’ And JR went, ‘You’re damn right because he’s black.’ I don’t know if he got mad at that and that’s why he said what he said, because his ego got in the way or what have you. But that’s what was said.”
