Do you think people suffering from depression go to the gym or workout regularly?

I only say that because the energy you release when you workout is crazy, at least a hard workout. And you feel amazing after and just being able to take on challenges in life become appealing.

Has anybody been going through depressions and working out and had the opposite effect?

Quick side note: wat is depression exactly? And not the webMD definition. Cuz when I think depression I think the endgame of somebody jumping a bridge or something like that. But never the day to day feelings that lead to it and if it's obvious to the naked eye or not

I go to the gym all the time but it is not the elixir of life the coli claim it to be. You can still be depressed and go to the gym.

Some days I finish my workout and feel like shyt. Some days I feel like a super hero.
Most days I feel a little better than before.

If I was depressed I dnt think the gym would help me any more than any other extra activity that I would do to try to take my mind off what I’m sad about.

It definitely is a factor. That's why a lot of people that are depressed are overweight and look lazy. People that lay in bed all day are unmotivated to do much of anything in life.

I can't go a long time without physical activity or else my mood will be completely fukked up.

It can be both. Depression is somewhat on a spectrum like other mental health conditions. It can also be episodic that is brought on by a trigger. For others, it’s a bit more low grade but they can still somewhat function but experience low motivation for other things, low mood, etc. I think the criteria that makes it different from just having “the blues” is level of severity (how much it’s impacting your functioning and quality of life) and how long it’s lasting.

So its essentially a feeling of "heaviness" if u will? Help me understand wat it's like waking up everyday. The thoughts that run through the mind. How the person reacts to accomplishments, etc. I hear the term thrown around a bunch and I've never gotten a grasp on wat it is exactly

Studies have shown working out reduces feelings of depression. Natural antidepressant. If you're depressed your motivation level is lowered and you're less likely to workout and thus perpetuating the issue to begin with.
