Every big release kinda sucked.

Scorpion was cheeks. Ye been a miss, Hov shyt weak, Nas mediocre, fell asleep during Culture II, Dime Trap was wack, Metro's joint was boring.

Best albums so far by Lupe, Denzel Curry, Travis, Pusha and Saba.

Nipsey? T Scott ? Dave east & styles p? Drip harder lil baby and gunna is fire

Op is right . Majority of the mainstream releases were huge disappointments and quickly forgotten . Mostly microwave music. Only semblance of soul food comin from beneath the surface .


I don’t see it getting any better honestly . They’re not taking to time to craft shyt anymore . It’s really like an afterthought to these guys . Only a marketing vehicle .

2018 is the best year since 2015. nikkas been eating good

The only reason why 2015 might go down as the best rap year in the 2010’s decade is because the mainstream and the underground had tons of great music to compliment each other.

I wasn't aware any sane people expected anything groundbreaking from mainstream rap in 2018 lol. There is still good stuff out there, it's just not elite which we are all craving but it is what it is for now.

I think there were some good things that happened.

- Dave East & Styles P album was good for hip hop
- Black Thought had a nice EP and has MURDERED multiple cyphers for us
- New Royce da 5'9" album is one of his better pieces of work in my opinion
- Joyner Lucas - "I'm Not Racist" is art and should have been more acclaimed than it has been
- Cypress Hill had a couple bangers on their new project ("Band of Gypsies" is fire)
- Logic brought Wu-Tang together on a track
- Vince Staples new FM record is solid - mixed reviews but it is a concept and original in this climate
- Say what you want about Eminem, he spit some heat on Kamikaze even though he'll never be the same
- I think J. Cole's KOD is overrated but with that said, it's not bad

There are other bright spots. Stop expecting a 2018 version of Reasonable Doubt and you might allow yourself to appreciate some shyt
