It’s always about the money

No one cares about a random exhibition game in February other than sponsors… who want to monetize it.

For players, being selected as an all star or all-nba is more important than the exhibition game itself, because the selection is tied to money (contract incentives/negotiations), not the exhibition.

Once ppl understand the business, the solution is clear. All this roundabout stuff about love of the game and pride… it’s a cute story to tell the kids but reality is it’s about paychecks. Either address the business incentive or bush the event all together but the half stepping ain’t accomplishing anything.

Negotiate it into contracts that teams pay you a sizable % bonus if you are selected as an all star and your team wins. Maybe another %bonus if you win all-star mvp.
