My library card is the best thing I get for my tax dollars.

Just in the last couple months I've:

  • done an ancestry search
  • took a class in The Great Courses Plus
  • regularly read the New York Times
  • regularly read The Wall Street Journal
  • Accessed archived copies of my local newspaper
  • Accessed archived issues of magazines like Education Week and Popular Science
  • got my son access to ABCMouse for online learning
  • Checked out about 15 audiobooks
  • Got some Trust documentation started for my family
and I did all that shyt w/o leaving the house. :wow:

Libraries low key are an INCREDIBLE resource. Even better if you have a good min branch in your city. I can legit waste an entire day just chilling at the Library.

What are the perks of having a library card ?
It depends on what your local and regional library offers. Here we got a lot:

Free ebooks, audiobooks, kindle books (Hoopla/Libby)
Free access to movie/doc streaming site Kanopy
Free access to certain newspaper sites and archives (like NYtimes)
Free printer access
Language learning access (Mango)
Online courses, Tutorials, Guides (Linkedin Learning, Creative Bug, Learning Express)

It's the best thing you could get for free.

It was through the archives

edit: but just to be clear for others reading. every thing I listed is a paid service that I got via my library card. shyt is a gem. I just submitted my resume for review via tutor.com as well.
:ehh:

They gave me some pretty good feedback on my resume.

I'll update it tonight and start applying for jobs tomorrow

I remember back in middle school the library was the only place to go to get on the internet. It was a new thing and we would always ask for rides to the library so we could get online and just look up random stuff. Mostly stuff about DBZ, but it was lit. I also remember back in those days trying to look up books on how to make a video game. All they had was old ass books about Radioshack computers and graphing paper, etc. Like none of the stuff was even being sold anymore so I couldn't learn shyt on my own lmao.
