Can you even bring up prior convictions of plaintiffs? Or can you just not bring up prior convictions of defendants UNLESS the defendant is trying to make some sort of good citizen defense.

I was arrested for battery last night. Even though it was self defense and my lawyer thinks i have a strong case they didn't want any parts of it.
Its a tutoring job working with young children so they dont want people charged with violent crimes working for them.
i threw acid on my baby daddy and his mother and they pressed charges on me

and its a pretty easy job. i did kinda exaggerate my abilities but its mostly just teaching mexican kids english fluency and math. mostly elementary students...

Acid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF.... are you crazy? :wtf:

yes i am.

Often gets objected to in court as highly prejudicial but the defense can open the door for the judge to deny the objection if the defendant has used a similar defense to what you referred to..or it can alternatively be admissible if the prosecution is trying to establish a pattern in the defendant's personal habits and behaviors...they have to be careful with it though because past crime does not prove present or future crime. In that case..they generally dont bring up the conviction itself as much as some of the evidence presented in the case in which said person was convicted. That gives the defense to speak on it and tailor an argument that there wasn't a correlation...whereas saying "so and so was convicted of that so this" would really back the defense into an objection only. It's also generally used with expert witnesses who speak on behavioral trends.
