He's right :what:

Do you actually expect to move up the ladder if you keep yourself to yourself?

You see how many charismatic dumbasses in high up positions. Nobody cares about actual results anymore. You see all of the Accounting scandals on the news. This is problem. Personally over actual know-how in today's culture

You're working in accounting, by and large most accountants are a$$holes and socially maladjusted. I deal with them all the time. :pachaha: You're not overreacting. When they get titles they think they own the world, you beat them at that game by being good on paper and staying in general good graces with everyone. This is coming from a guy with an executive position and a Masters in economics who regularly makes accountants look like idiots, even the CPA's.:heh:

Sorry the guy is a jerk. I'd be looking for a new job if I were you, just because there are people in management who are cool as hell, and have a :yeshrug: attitude while still kicking corporate ass. Like me.

Lemongrass, cherries, alkaline water
Visibility, a corporate drones' favorite buzzword.

Relationships are going to be important no matter what field you're in OP, most important is that those relationships are genuine. Don't worry about ass-kissing, long as you know where you want to go just follow the people that can help to guide you.

I honestly tried to play the game. It doesn't work for me. I have a boss personality

No, you don't :dahell:

Anybody who's ever led anything - even a group project or something - knows that interpersonal relationships and visibility are a huge part of leadership :dahell:

Edit: wait, aren't you that idiot with the women shouldn't be in management positions thread? Oh I just cannot with your "women shouldn't have those positions but I definitely should, even though I refuse to put in the work to earn that position" ass :mjlol: The entitlement :mjlol:

Tell Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs that. This is not the only way. You should read the book "Quiet"

The conversation wasn't that serious. I had a great year end review. The numbers drastically improve in the 6 months I've been here. This was more of a side critique. Tbh the company is failing. Oil and gas is taking the metal industry down with it. Everybody here is just sucking what's left until it dies. On some don't rock the boat shyt

:lolbron:I fired her. I started going over her head for everything. We sit beside each other and haven't spoken in months. She ran one sister off after a month of working here. I live to troll this lady

My post came off as a 'nobody tells me what to do' rant. But I'm taking more about mutual respect. I don't see a CEO and think, damn he makes millions, he's better than me or smarter than me. The corporate structure really tries to push this down our throats and I don't agree with it.

Then get out...

Why won't you kiss our asses:sadbron:

No surprises though. A black man in corporate is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. But not just that, when you're in the professional environment you'll notice they make sure you have a copy of that damn hierarchy chart to remind your ass A) where you stand, and B) whose ass you should be kissing.

Story time: 8 years ago, I'm a green recent grad, took me two years to finally land a job in Accounting. Very difficult field to get into, everybody wants 2-5 experience and a minimum of 3 certs. So I get my break, hired by this very successful, no nonsense type A personality, old ass Italian guy. He actually worked for Donald Trump and was a Project Manager for the Taj Mahal construction in the late 80's.

The guy was hard to work for, he had a short fuse. A few months into the job we're on a conference call, somewhat high level call with with CFOs and Managers, and he asks me a question. This particular question I didn't have an answer for. He was cool at the time. That day right when I was about to shut it down and take it to the house I get a call from him- he works of the New York office, I was in Memphis. With another senior manager on three way this dude flew off the handle. Dude was yelling so loud that the phone speakers was moving in and out like subwoofers. I couldn't get a word in. I was so mad I prolly would have killed ole boy if he was standing in front of me taking that shyt.

I decided that day fukk a hierarchy chart. We men first. I got a family to feed but shid we will be alright, trust. I'm not going to sit up here and whine about unfairness, its the white man's house he can do what ever he wants in it. I'm working on building my own. But until then, fukk these ppl mane.

the anger you're feeling or felt is what every man (black or white) needs to propel them into working for themselves. i've been working in the real world for a while now and almost everyday, i see sh1t (how others get treated) that makes me go like "this world really sucks for the layman". nothing like being in a position to tell people to fucck off and not have it affect u financially.

I got to know all the key people one on one instead of having to be the group entertainer.
