lr was great.
cd was classic based on concept the orchestration. not to mention there were amazing songs like jesus walks, all falls down, and two words. it's probably the best example of street rap and alt rap blended together. college drop is also one of those albums that people who don't even like rap listen to. not saying that makes it classic, but that says something about soul behind it. speakin of which, the entire genre mimicked that sound. college dropout was actual a game changer and besides 808s, probably kanye's most influential album.
He's right in the overall sense that it didn't introduce it. Now if you want to say it made it popular again on a mainstream level, that's fair and true but the shyt didn't go away. The beats he made for that and for blueprint were for Ghost due to the soul sampling on Supreme Clientele which was in 2000 so dude didn't innovate; he just made the mainstream take notice
