I guess you can't have a circus without Elephants: Ringling Bros is calling it quits.

After 100 years it looks like the jig is up.

Ringling Bros. circus is closing down after more than 100 years in operation, according to a press release from Feld Entertainment, which has owned the circus for the last 50 years.

"I have made the difficult business decision that Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® will hold its final performances in May of this year," CEO Kenneth Feld said.

High operating costs and the decline of ticket sales "made the circus an unsustainable business for the company," Feld said.

And after "the transition of the elephants off the road, we saw an even more dramatic drop" in ticket sales, Feld said.

For years, the elephants and their dance routines featured prominently in the shows.

Despite all the animal rights violations I'm kinda sad that kids won't get to see the circus anymore.

This sucks. One less thing for kids to enjoy. I only saw their show twice but it was cool. Next up are zoos, uncle Magic, carnivals...
Definitely zoos. Many of the animals in them are going extinct. Pretty soon zoos will be the only places to see them.

What the fukk is going on? I always thought the circus would be around for ever. The world is changing in such weird ways. Sad.
Is the world so strange we don't need the circus anymore?

Dam. Me and my sons would go every year when they came to Houston. It was also nice to see them last year when they had a brother for the Ringmaster. The show will be missed.
Real talk. Me and my family did it every year growing up. The cotton candy, those silly glowing globe lights that would always break, and of course waiting to see the animals walk by after the show.
