I didn't read all of the thread but sometimes parents and outside people see things we don't see. Him being an older seasoned person probably sees something and it's burning him. He was wrong but I would take a pause and think on the whole thing, EVEN the wedding itself.

That Brazil trip is a red flag, but that's just me. To each their own.

I know one situation where the wife didn't like the guys father. This fella didn't pay much attention to this underlying issue. His father died and he couldn't handle it and asked his wife to handle all things dealing with the funeral and burial. This woman had his father buried in cardboard and didn't tell him or try to consult him.
