Real talk..when I see them in Crown Heights when I go to get my haircut once/twice a week...they literally make me angry.

They don't care about the neighborhood, just the quirkiness/irony of them living in a black "nabe" and to replace it with people like them so their more comfortable.

They don't care about diversity either...just for aesthetic purposes. It's not like they interact with anybody that's not like the unless their going to a store or are in a situation where they have to deal with them. In fact, I'd say they go out of their way specifically to NOT interact with anybody like them cause black/brown people make them uncomfortable. It's not like they had those/them out in Iowisconsintucky or wherever the fukk they came from.

Sometimes I get off at Franklin and post up in front of their stores for kicks.:mjpls:

This is the shyt I don't like about them:beli:

The problem is that the average one kinda sees us as a zoo exhibit, almost in an observational/condescending way. Even the blipsters are on that :mjpls: steez with that annoying whiny newblack voice.

Nah, they borrow styles from other decades, so if anything, they look like you. shyt sucks either way.

The bolded is my problem with them and their fetishization of the hood/people of color in low income communities. And also why I have a problem with them in hip-hop journalism.

Most of them are coming from upper-middle class places where there's no diversity and don't know how to communicate/interact with people of color. Which is funny cause their parents moved from those same city areas in the 50s-70s to the burbs cause they didn't know how to either.

That's why I cringe when they think they can talk about OUR issues. I'd like to just tell them to just stop period. It's obvious they don't understand and don't want to understand or co-exist or live with that community. They'd rather destroy it to put in another wine shoppe with a quirky name like "Simply Red", another terrible makeshift art gallery, another doggy day care center for super yup, or another overpriced eatery so they don't have to see them out of discomfort.

I'm with you for the most part, females are prone to ideal changes until a solid dude come in and provides that stability. The reason i bolded though is what the fukk is wrong with wanting to eat better? :mindblown:

Most of the shyt we came up eating is the reason why nikkas die at 45 of heart disease. You can still eat tasty food but eat better. That's one of the FEW things that I like about the hipster movements. That and the fact that the cats get real serious about they tea/coffee and i fukking love coffee :blessed:

I don't hate hipsters, I just don't like them. The thing that pisses me off the most is when they feel like they know the city better than someone who actually grew up in the city.

Same.
I'm not from New York originally. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. I admit to being a transplant and just living here.

Some of them swear up and down that they are born and raised in NYC. They'll try to claim Manhattan or Long Island...or they'll sa their from "The Schwick" or "The Stuy"...
Then when someone asks them what school they went to, or about what corner store used to be around the corner, or questions that only a born and bred New Yorker would know...they get flustered and admit the truth. I think alot of it is self-hate...

That's why I gotta :patrice:when I hear about them writing for publications like the New Yup York Times literally trying to re-write the history of the city.
New Yorkers (REAL New Yorkers) will pull your cards in a second and ain't having it...

The worst offenders. Ran into a chick in Midtown Detroit that tried to tell me what Detroit was really like....i was like "listen heifer, just cuz you bought a fix-me-up on Ashland don't mean you know the hood. One block of fukked up don't validate you. You don't know this culture, this world, these people. You don't know the oppressive laws because they never applied to you ect. ect."

An older white dude came up to me and was like :obama: and said "i lived off 6 Mile my whole life and i'll NEVER know what its really like, and I don't pretend to either i'm glad you said that".

:salute:

You can eat whatever you want in moderation. But do't deny your girl trying to give you a good habit just because hipsters do it. That's illogical.

Hating people cause they seemingly fit into some kinda group never sits right with me, but I guess it's a natural part of human society.

No matter what, I think that we should all try to deal with each person we come across as an individual. I don't like being swayed by how people are categorized for me.

Yeah I won't even know what Schwick would mean. I think its totally fine that people live where they want, but nobody needs to front like they're not from out of town. Every time I hear someone say something like O I been living here for the past 5 or 10 years, I just think that a real new yorker wouldn't even mention how long they've lived here.
