The ref will have more respect for you if you are not showing him (or her) up by getting all dramatic. I never said Jordan didn't have diva moments, he did. But most were him in the refs ear quickly during transition or a stare down but not bugged eyes looking at the ref like :wtf: and carrying on and throwing a tantrum like somehow that is going to get you the foul.

but what other choice do they have? if you dont make it stop, they fouls will only get harder... if you retaliate you get thrown out..

pretty much complain to ref is the only thing you can do..

if you "take it like a man" you will end up taking it prison style.

Lakers file complaint with NBA over hard fouls on Dwight Howard | Yardbarker.com

When you are a big man in the NBA, you will consistently take a beating. It just comes with the territory of banging around under the basket. But when you are a liability at the free throw line, many teams decide to just take their chances and foul a big man and deal with the results at the free throw line. Lakers center Dwight Howard only shoots 49% at the free throw line. So he most certainly falls into that category. But the problem becomes all the fouls and beating that Dwight ends up taking because of his free throw woes. Fouls that recently resulted in a shoulder injury that has left the center sidelined for the Lakers most recent stretch of games. It appears the Lakers don’t like how hard some of the fouls have been and decided to do something about it. Via T.J. Simers of the Los Angeles Times: There’s a protocol to airing opinions or complaints with the NBA. And we’ve done that.” said Mitch Kupchak. ”The game has evolved and like a lot of other sports where atte...

He gets hit much more than any player in the league. LeBron doesn't take half the hits Dwight does, plus he is usually the one giving the punishment.

The refs were also less p*ssy back then. They didn't call T's for players looking at them wrong or talking to them the wrong way... That's why players flop more. They need to sell the call to the officials because officials don't call a lot of shyt they should, and they have no recourse or forum to say anything about it. If a player tries to say something during the game, they gonna get a T. If they say it to the media, they gonna get fined. It's a lose lose situation...

Jordan had this classic style of working the ref. Jordan and most players of his era knew even if they didn't get the call for the hard foul they could work the ref for a make up call. Jordan would isolate the ref away from everyone slump over like he's just taking a momentary breather and social engineer the ref and usually Jordan would get a whitsle later in the game on a ticky tack foul. Everyone wins, Jordan keeps his All Star call status in tact and gets his free throws, ref keeps their respect and appearance of authority. Unlike now, make up calls are a thing of the past because these spoil brats get their panties in a bunch if they don't get the call right then and there, instead they embarass the ref in front of the crowd and millions watching and then have the nerve to wonder why the ref swallow their whistle or "let's them play" when someone like KG is pushing their shyt in. They don't know how to play the game within the game.

This. yeah, flopping is a by product of the refs and their perception of the rules, I think players could just inform the refs to watch for certain things but yeah I get why flopping sometimes is a necessary evil and I never really had a problem with players arguing with the refs, Sheed was great at it, he got carried away alot of times but you could atleast get that even he had respect for them. I just don't see that now.

New players are pussies, LeBron included. These aren't even hard fouls this dude is complaining about either. I wanna snap the neck of the next homosexual softy who complains about being fouled hard, when you're fouled hard you can't get up. Also, the audacity of LeBron complaining when he has Wade as his teammate who is known for 'hard fouls.'

How long until someone brings up the Rambis/McHale foul like its something that happened every day?

Basketball is not designed to be a overly physical sport. If you can get away with playing physical, you can punk just about anyone on the court pretty easily. Im just sick of all of these motherfukkers who act like the game is being pussified every time a foul is called on them or their team yet they are the same motherfukker who is yelling "and one!" Or "stay here!" Every single play on the other end. From my experience, the people that say they like rough physical basketball are the biggest hypocrites.
