I hate movies that have a good premise but feel the need to spruce it up with action

I just rented The Watch with Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. The idea of neighbors coming together to make a neighborhood watch because they have nothing better to do and are totally unequipped to do it is a cool premise to a movie.

But they go and fukk it up by trying to make it a sci-fi by adding aliens and action scenes did they feel they couldn't sell a movie about neighbors getting drunk trying to watch over the neighborhood? Because I think that in itself can hold up.

At it's best it's them drinking in car unsure what to do tackling kids and being excited with the feat.

That Paul Blart Mall Cop movie same thing instead of it being about a loser mall cop with little respect from the mall goers trying his best to keep order.

It becomes some stupid movie about Extreme sports robbers who take over the mall yes robbers who skateboard and shyt take over the mall. Did they need that big event of them taking over the mall to keep peoples attention?

Well I disagree at it's best it's him in his everyday routine on his segway trying to guard the mall from punk kids and grumpy old people all while he gets laughed at by the workers of the mall.

I hate when a movie has a good concept get destroyed with action or a big event that's not needed. Does Hollywood think people can't sit through a movie thats about normal everyday things with out shootouts and explosions?

For the record I'm not saying those two movies would be good without the ridiculous turns they take but they would of had a better chance and the concept of the beginning of the movies are actually clever ideas.
