Some truth to the OP but it's usually deeper than that.
Considering most men have been in one or two relationships with women they knew they would never marry, I would assume sex is a major motivator.
Some guys want to bang a chick, and the only way they will have access to the P is through a commitment. A lot of dudes are willing to play that role.
But those relationships are usually short lived. Most "real" relationships are based on more than just wanting to smash.

I'd say that men get in relationships with women or at least one of the perks of being in a relationship with a woman where you are both having sex on a consistent basis.. is the fact that you don't have to go out here chasing multiple women, maintain a team of women, create a team of women, etc and all the energy that it takes in of itself.
The player lifestyle can get lonely, especially when you don't give your hearts completely to the team of women you have. And ultimately when none of them are there for you, or ultimately move on.
