The problem with this argument is that there IS a huge difference between an intelligent Black person and a Black person that speaks as if they are ensconced in White culture. Black people of lesser intelligence levels typically do not make this distinction and assume that an evolved vocabulary and grammar = “talking white” which traps us in a box as Black people.

Using myself as an example, if you put me around the average hood nikka they would absolutely say that “I talk White” but if you put me around some White people they will think I “talk White” for about five minutes due to their stereotypical views of how we are supposed to speak but after that they usually conclude “he talks and thinks Black AF”.

The inflection and tone in 90% of my words is African-American but my vocabulary is advanced so that’s why I correct people and say “nikka, I’m speaking intelligently...not White”. Fact is, I don’t even hang out with White people...I don’t watch their shows or anything and don’t frequent their areas...I’m just intelligent and refuse to speak like a dumb ass nikka to make some other dumb ass nikka think I’m Black.

I don’t even judge people like this anymore, I like to judge people based on how they think. I feel that “thinking Black” is more important than “talking Black”. Because you can “talk Black” but “think White” and that’s how the FBI infiltrated all our large movements in the USA using all those c00ns who acted like us but weren’t. But when you “think Black” you are powerful and when you know how to code switch White people will let you into the board room where you can really have some impact.

Standard American English is valued in this society, but it's just one more English dialect. Speaking it has ZERO bearing on one's intelligence, nor does it reveal anything about one's intelligence. Nah, black regional dialects have more differences between them than white ones.
I didn't need a linguistics course to serve cacs the BIG BAD BOY, Bobby.
Chicagocacs and Clevelandcacs have more of the same accent than Cleveland and Chicago brehs.
Detroit cacs, Toronto cacs, Milwaukee cacs all have variations of the same "Northern Lift", and the black accents are different Southern AAVE accents that recombined and diverged into totally different ones.
