Is it really that serious?

What are you trying to prove?
No it's not. It's Just alittle music debate. so nikkas cant have debates anymore? :heh::dahell: . I swear you can't say shyt on this board without folks saying what does it matter. It's discussion board. What the hell are we suppose to talk about? Just because I'm not talking about what you want to talk about? Stop policing folks threads.

Probably a hipster, am I right? It's what they do. They skim off the top of other cultures claiming to be fans, but  the core aspects/artists of said cultures.
This hipster cac I work with would be all :lawd: when somebody played Snoop Dre Cube or Big and was like "I love 90s hip hop! Today's shyt is garbage." Even rocked NWA and Technics 1200 t shirts and shyt. So I started naming all these artists from the 80s-90s and his expressions ranged from :dahell: to :dwillhuh:. Goddamn I hate hipsters :scust:

You're definitely not an elitist. You like soulful R&B & the artists you listed all have that foundation. I don't know how you can be a fan of R&B & not like Stevie or any of the others you listed
Folk out here tripping . :mjpls: They will be the same ones talking about white people are talking over R&B and soul music. A lot of popular black artist are not making R&B and soul music. It's not a bad thing it just many aren't singing it. To busy trying to cross over into pop. Then they get mad when Adele and Justin Timberlake are topping the charts with R&B and soul inspired music. :manny:

Exactly & that's part of the problem with modern "R&B". The lines have been blurred so much between that & pop that white artists think they can sing R&B but it's not true R&B. Blacks have copied that style & are getting "outdone" in a genre that was always historically Black. To me no white artists could sing like this young brehette:

How is that a music debate telling people what they can and can't like based off their taste?

You said that they can't like The Weeknd, PND, Miguel if they don't like R&B/SOUL. Do you not realize that during the time period that half the list of the artists you mentioned were making "pop" music? Do you even know the definition of "pop" music? Even if we consider it "R&B/Soul" during that time period, it was POPULAR music. The Weeknd makes R&B. Frank Ocean makes R&B/Soul. Miguel a mix of both himself. Sade, R&B/Soul. Al Green, R&B/soul. You just sound like a music snob and a fukking a$$hole overall because people have their tastes and like what they like.

Lol how Am I a music snob when he has Not listened to many R&B artist both old and new? I said you can like what you like but don't snub 90% of the genre. No one said he can't like those artist you are just adding stuff in no one ever said. I like Miguel, Sade and Al green and some of PND song. I gave a fair listen to the others but he hasn't given none of these people a fair listen and I'm the music snob. :francis: So its ok to turn your up nose these artist in the first column? I am just telling him to be open minded of the R&B genre not just like popular hot artist. Which is being a music snob In its self.

@Patrick Kane Stop putting words in my mouth. He can like who he likes but don't turn your nose up at other artist and claim to like the genre when you really don't. That's just being closed minded.

Yeah she tore that up. Real singing like hers is not appreciated because of what's happened to R&B nowdays. She was the best singer on this show:

I like some of the new singers but I hate how The media demonized this type of singing. It gets label as "
Too black sounding". I've seen a lot of non black people call this "screaming" or they will claim that it doesn't appeal to white artist. A lot of the modern R&B artist are trying to appeal to a wider whiter younger audience. They water themselves down which is crime In itself. Basically watering down or toning down their blackness. It's really gross when you really think about it.
