I have a real estate question for y'all brehs

So I'm looking at these houses in Detroit and they're cheap as hell. If I bought a couple cheap properties would I make some money. I have no interest in fixing the house. I just want the property so when someone comes in to build a high rise condo they gotta pay me to knock the crib down. Or do I have to own thd land as well as the house?
