let's just say
hypothetically

that you are planning a mission
and to cover your tracks with,um authorities

you want to leave your cell phone at home and have it make calls and have calls sent to it so that it pings off towers near your home
so that if checked
you will have proof
that you were nowhere near the supposed area :lupe:

you need to not involve anyone else
so you dont want to have someone stay at your crib and make calls to establish your whereabouts
cause you cant trust that person not to flip on you

so in short
an app that you can have make calls at a scheduled time
with out you being there to use the phone:patrice:

Wouldn't work...having the app on your phone would be inherently incriminating :yeshrug:

"bu bu but I was at home...check my phone" :jawalrus:

"sir...the phone calls made were from 'cellphonefakecall' app to numbers commonly associated with the app and are incongruent with all other calls on your phone and neither are in your contact list...who were you calling at 11:34 pm for 2 minutes and 16 seconds?" :beli:

So what happens when they find the app on your phone? Having an app that intentionally obfuscates your location sure doesn't make you look suspicious

the ability to have it deleted after use
with some way to have the history of it being downloaded not discovered :lupe:

the calls would be more concrete evidence imo
Well, they don't even need your phone for evidence. They could pull the logs from the towers your phone is communicating with. You don't have to make calls, just walking around with your phone and data service on is enough to incriminate you

There's two fail points here. First off I'm not entirely sure Apple or your service provider does not have a complete history of things you've downloaded and or purchased. Secondly whoever creates the app has knowledge that you downloaded it as well. What happens if the fbi/cia or whoever requests them to reveal everyone who has downloaded this app?
The problem is somebody other than yourself knows you downloaded it. Therefore there's always a loose end. In the case youre caught, them knowing you used an app like this might be more detrimental than had you not used it at all.

They find the app and then realize the times that said illegal activity went down is the same time you were making these strange phone calls with the intent to hide your location.

i really got the ideal from a personal issue and from watching 1st 48 cause like every case they catch them lying about not being there cause their phone pinged off a tower in the crime area :sadcam: i havent seen last night's episode of Power

see im saying moreso as an alibi
so if the perp knows not to have his phone with him
but knows the feds check ping history
so he/she wants to have an established proof that they were home calling their cable company or whatever and couldnt be in the area
i would think just use of your data would not be enough at home because they could say "well he could have just left the phone on using data" if only i could make this app and not have it known about and made sold in an undercover way :lupe:

So what happens when your phone call alibi gets questioned and the stories don't match up?
i would make the calls to things like
my cable provider and say that i didnt get an operator and kept calling back :lupe:

or

maybe i can have a burner phone located in another area to ping off different towers there
with the app on it that will accept calls on its on
and have my phone call it

:lupe:
