It's amazing how shytty this year is turning out to be. Around 2005-2006 ish, there were no more great albums. And it's been this way (with the exception of Live.Love.ASAP 
and maybe Jesus Price Supastar - an uneven album with a number of classic joints). But at least we'd get a number of great/good songs every year.
Is 2017 gonna be the year where we can't get even one great song? And I'm not talking about "meh this is alright - I'll turn up to this and forget this shyt next year". A genuinely good song. Something with replay value.
And before you start hooking up your special stalker keyboard to ramble about SirBiatch, you can't pretend like I'm not current.
The best track I've heard in circulation this year BY FAR is "Both". And it's still 6 God, damn near a decade later
But that song is technically 2016.
The two best tracks I've heard all year for 2017 ironically suffer from the same problem, even though they're miles apart in audience and artist recognition. Click the spoilers to find out.
Both songs have the best beats this year. One is classic boom bap and the other the new wave. Both have terrible rapping which prevent the songs from greatness. One is spoken-wording his way through the track on some super lazy shyt and the other is adlibbing his way through an entire song on some super lazy shyt. Complete beat wastage either way.
And it summarizes where we are in modern "hip hop". Both generations of hip hop, new and old, are extremely lazy and don't care about making anything lasting because they're so busy pandering to their respective fanbases - and their fanbases are too scared to ask the tough questions.
